Title: Dell Photo 926 AIO Printer creates work
|
Date: July 17, 2008
|
ProsSomewhat "small" and unobtrusive, has card slots, fairly quiet, WHITE! not black.
ConsInfo screen very hard to read (becomes dark and unreadable in conserve mode); doesn't turn on right away so I don't know if it's on or off when in bright room; clunky to use as a copy machine - must push several buttons several times to get something other than the typical one copy on 8.5x11 paper - process takes too long and unable to readily determine if I've set it correctly; loading paper becomes a chore - must flip and hold down a flap with one hand while trying to load paper at top with the other; uses a lot of ink; the best setting on plain paper eats ink and still leaves printed letters jagged and not clean; the power pack sits in the back and the cord inputs into this power pack - the cord and power pack stick out about 4 inches & with a front paper catcher the printer is probably now 20" from front to back - not small.

Title: Major Disappointment
|
Date: July 15, 2008
|
ProsGood picture quality, WHEN it prints correctly. Wireless capabilty, they will tell you, but in order for it to be wireless, you must buy the $100+ wireless adapter
ConsDoes not detect paper Jams VERY easily Takes a long time to print simple black and white documents Maintenance functions do not operate properly; -jams when you try to align cartridges, etc. Does not start up automatically when power button is pressed
ReviewI would not recommend this to my worst enemy. It's a cheap printer every way you look at it.

Title: Need to be rich to own.
|
Date: July 13, 2008
|
ConsI went through a cartridge in a week. With my other Dell printer a cartridge would last months. After reading other reviews I see this is a common problem with this printer. Does Dell not read these reviews. If so why aren't you doing something about it. Customer satisfaction should be your number one concern. I personally will not buy another Dell product again.

Title: Really painfully bad.
|
Date: July 12, 2008

ProsScans kinda okay. Havent tried the fax.
ConsIt is lousy and unreliable. I keep getting a printer busy or 'cannot communicate with printer' message. Paper keeps getting jammed and the cartridges must be filled with a drop of ink by Dell. This is worthless.
ReviewI HATE it even though I got it for free from Dell. You can understand how lousy it must be. Stay Away !

Title: Way to go DELL!!!!
|
Date: June 25, 2008
|
ProsYES! Although I have "ripped" Dell on other areas of their company, especially Customer Service, .... and the first laptop/notebook I ordered worked for 2-hours, I still confirm that this printer (926 model) is absolutely professionally designed, and performs like an Office printer/copier/scanner. It is very reliable and certainly a high quality product. Thank you.
ConsThis product is outstanding. I honestly recommend this printer/copier/scanner to everyone. No negatives to share about product. Thank you.

Title: won't be getting another one of these
|
Date: June 12, 2008

ProsCheap. That's also the con.
ConsPrint cartridges last less than half the time than those of other printers I've owned, are way over-priced and worst yet... are unbelievably temperamental. The electronics in these cartridges (or Dell's firmware, one or the other) is flawed... its that simple. In an effort to protect margins on cartridges they have rendered this printer unusable for mid to heavy volume users. If you print more than a page a month you will want a different printer. If you just want a printer to sit by the computer then this one is fairly attractive.

Title: Rock solid! This out preforms HP OfficeJet K80
|
Date: May 1, 2008
|
ProsDesign is a work of art, tying the features together beautifully. Side by side with my OfficeJet k-80 the 926 AIO blows the HP away in both form and function. Pictures print with flawless execution and are crisp, clean, and beautifully. I'll I have is praise, my heart melted when I realized it can read digital camera memory sticks.
ConsI have found no cons.
ReviewI could praise it all day, but I tossed a Wall of Text already. I highly recommend this to every friend I have and in IRC channels.

Title: Dell 926: Price vs. Performance
|
Date: April 25, 2008
|
ProsPutting the bulk of my new computer budget into the computer and digital camera left me little room for a printer. I chose the 926 mainly due to its Black-Print Speed and of course, price. I run a clock restoration business online, and use the printer mainly for printing documentation and shipping labels, so speed was important to me. It hasn't disappointed. Even when printing color it rips through the process. Print clarity is excellent regardless what mode I use. I was also surprised to see how well it prints a color picture even on regular paper. The LED screen makes choosing functions a snap. The copy feature is great! I'm able to copy actual clock labels with amazing clarity. Very hard to tell my reproductions from the originals. In addition, I print these labels on thick, 67-pound paper, and the printer handles it with ease. I haven't used it yet, but the printer has a card reader built in. A nice extra and an option I didn't have to pay for when ordering my computer. I might be doing something wrong, but I just can't seem to grasp the scanner feature. (See cons)
ConsIt might be me, it might be the software, it might be something I'm overlooking. I just can't seem to get anything to scan actual size. Everything I scan seems to come out huge, and reduction destroys the clarity. (Gee, maybe I should read the book) The price of the printer makes it a good buy. However, I did not appreciate having to pay an extra $25 for the USB cable. That took a lot of the value out of the purchase. As everybody else has stated, this printer just drinks ink! The cartriges you get when you buy the printer are low volume. I ended up purchasing a new black cartridge within a few weeks. I think Staples is the only store who carries Dell replacents. Nobody else does. Otherwise, you need to order new ink through Dell. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THE REGULAR CARTRIDGES! GET THE HIGHER VOLUME CARTRIDGE FOR A COUPLE OF BUCKS MORE!
ReviewOn the plus side, the cartridge prices are very reasonable. My old HP black cartridge ran $30. With 2 high-capacity Dell cartridges at around the same price, I'm pretty sure I'm able to print more pages. So in the long run, it works out about the same if not a little better.
With Dell keeping my personal information on file, I was able to order a new cartridge quickly. It was here in about 3-days.
I have no complaints about this printer. It would be totally unfair to expect more. It does all of my primary needs, and everything else is a bonus. For what it does versus what I paid, it is an excellent value. Eventually I'll probably upgrade to even a better printer but at the moment I can't even create reasons to do so.

ProsI bought this printer for my office. It was very easy to install and I love the features. Color copy is great! Also, the option to scan documents straight into word processing and make changes is great too.
ConsUses ink really quickly! I have had this printer for a few weeks and I've had to replace the Black ink cartridge 3 times and the color 2 times. Granted, I have been using the standard capacity cartridges but I still expected more use out of each one. I do have to print a lot though so maybe I'm an exception. I will definitely be buying the high capacity cartridges next time I order them and hopefully they last longer.

Title: Good and Bad
|
Date: April 13, 2008

ProsI love the speed compared to my previous printer. I love the ease of using it. It preforms wonderfully
ConsUSES LOTS OF INK !!!! If you are someone who prints big projects, then this is not for you. I use mine mainly for school, I printed out a presentation with 10 pages. The back ground of this presentation was black, it took 2 whole black ink cartridges to print 10 pages. I was not a happy camper. To replace your ink is VERY VERY expensive in the long run.

Title: So much potential, but...
|
Date: April 10, 2008
|
Prosgreat features offered, but...
Consthe quality is not that great. The biggest aggavation is the paper feed. So many of my pages get skewed, and not just a little bit. This is after a computer guy came and adjusted it. It's just cheap quality. It's got all of the features I needed for school in a cheaply made, unreliable, ink-wasting-because-I-constantly-have-to-reprint package. Oh, how I wish I could return this thing!!!
ReviewMy canon was far superior even in the print quality. You can tell this one is substandard. They tried to make an excellent printer, scanner, copier, and fax in a cheaply made box. Like I said, so much potential....

ProsWorks fine.
ConsWhen I read some of the reviews there was a complaint about this product not working with Word. I found it to work fine with with Word, but not with Adobe. The solution is to download the latest version of Adobe and then download the Adobe Flashdrive. It works perfectly once you do that.
