Title: A Work Horse! Date: August 7, 2009
Review:I originally purchased the 3110cn and loved it. I worked it to death... literally. Had the extended warranty and the printer was no longer available so Dell replaced it with this 5110cn. I was intimidated by the size of the 5110cn, but it's a great printer! I've had the 5110cn for about 5 months now. I don't know about cost per page, but I do know it's a A LOT cheaper than going to a printer for stuff. We print 2-sided colored brochures and they look AWESOME. I love this printer but I would never have it if it weren't for the warranty on my old printer. Because I sure couldn't have afforded the price of this one. But kudos to Dell for their excellent customer service!

Title: Caution on Doing the Math Date: June 9, 2009
Product Uses: work

Review:There is a review on how cheap the printer is per page, but his math is wrong. He hasn't factored in the cost of the printer, or the color toner. The cost per page is closer to 7 cents per page, not the 1/2 cents he claims.

Title: DO THE MATH - FANTASTIC DEAL Date: April 1, 2009
ProsI am a laser printer expert, having worked 5+ yrs at Xxxxx company and Sxxxxxx company, mainly R&D, tech suport.

This printer is a fantastic buy. Why? Cheap consummables. B&W: $100 / 18,000 = $0.0055 per page -- about half a cent. What is the going rate? 2.5-3 cents per page.

This printer is 80% CHEAPER than other printers.

Compare this to the B&W only $1000 HP P3005x which has a cost of 1.8 cents per page.

Hmmm. HP: 1.8 cents. Dell 0.5 cents

Even figuring out wear & tear on the transfer belt and other parts, the total cost per page still comes out to 1 cent per page. If I sat down to do the math on the HP printer, its 1.8 cents a page would rise too.

DO THE MATH PEOPLE!!!

Print quality is excellent. Printer has NEVER JAMMED ONCE in 2+ yrs. Quality construction.
ConsPrinter calibration wait time is a pain. Happens in the middle of a print job.

No straight-through paper path so envelopes are a little wrinkled.

Printer makes strange noises, but hasn't broken yet.

Review:I hate uninformed people who can't do math to save their lives.

Pros* Easily replacable things like the drum and fuser
*drum and fuzer units cheap
*decent print quality for the price
Cons*fuzer and Drum kits have low life here we replace the drum once every 3 months.

Review:The toner might seem expensive but when you compare it to hp toner its a great volue. The high capacity toner for dell prints more pages then the hp high capacity toner.

Title: 5100cn my kind of machine Date: February 6, 2009
ProsDell made machine with the user in mind for use and maintenance. All lasers have consumables and moving parts. These things either get used up, wear out or get damage (bad paper, harsh removal of a jam or whatever). All the parts are easily replacable and reasonably priced. This coupled with the print quality and consistancy, make it a fine machine,
ConsHaving to match the paper-settings in the OS (Windows or Mac) with the Web-based settings. (*note may be fixed by now, but I have not updated or looked for one).

Review:Dells toner prices could be lower.

Title: Buy the warranty! Date: January 31, 2009
ProsWhen it works, it does a great job. Love the full duplex printing.
ConsMine broke in the second year and just out of warranty. I called Dell and they told me it would be cheaper to buy a new one than fix it! They want we to toss out a thousand dollar printer in just 2 years! That is nuts! I would never buy this machine without a 5 year warranty. The only products Dell wants to deal with is in-warranty products, after that they throw you to the dogs. They should rethink their service department.

Review:Don't buy from Dell unless you are happy with owning their products just in the warrany time. Check out their website, you can not order Dell Service unless it is under warranty.

ProsFAST - Crazy fast, especially duplex and large quantities with color
Cheap - compared statistically to printers costing thousands and it was only 700 in the Dell outlet
Amazing warranty - any help can be found online or over the phone in a very short time
Cheap per print - toner sounds expensive, but even when printing newsletters with photos I got 5k+ out of my first 8k toners.
Easy to use
Giant paper tray
ConsHeavy
Photos aren't "photo quality", but not bad

Review:This printer is amazing! We use it for eveything from printing a few pages of word document to thousands of newsletters and are never dissatisfied.
It will cut down paper costs drastically if you do not have duplex already. The printer has a memory that will print out who printed what pages, in what color, and on on how many sheets of paper and it showed that we printed on both sides 90% of the time. As it is laser and not inkjet, the colors will not bleed through either.

Title: Good for churches Date: February 7, 2008
ProsWe're a small church of about 100. This is perfect for our size with some growth potential. We print our bulletins in color on it every week (amongst many other pieces) and do not have any problems. I disagree that it eats toner like crazy. It seems that we hardly ever have to replace it...I'm sure it just depends on how much you're putting through it and what the toner coverage is on the pieces you send through it.
ConsWe've had many problems trying to use it wireless. I'm sure if you were or had an on staff IT person it would be fine but we ended up hard wiring it in the end. Also, I do agree that it does take some time to calibrate but it's never really bothered us. Overall, it prints very fast and the quality is good.

ConsGreat print quality if you have lots of time to wait for the printer to "calibrate" each time you want to print in color or black & white. Once it gets going it's quick but you may need to wait up to 60 seconds for the printer to start even if your just printing 1 page. Eats up toner like crazy. Consumables (drums, rollers) are very expensive. Printer not worth the price.

Title: What more could you ask for Date: December 5, 2007
ProsThe printer fits our company like a glove. It is fast, prints clear and clean and the graphics are excellent. I have printed several test to try and find the deficiencies in this printer and it passed with flying colors....no pun intended. We print approximately 250k prints a year as we print manuals of 60 pages up to 375 pages on a daily basis. The duplexer is an option that we have always had to add to other previous purchases and this one was included. We couldn't survive without a reliable printer in our line of work, and we are elated with our Dell 5110cn. The 3 yr on site next day warranty is also just what we needed. Thanks Dell for a great tool to allow us to serve our clients with a professional product. Several of my clients have noticed the difference in the quality of our products since the change. That says volumes to us and makes it worth more that the cost.
ConsThe output tray is a little small for our needs (250 pages) and it a little noisy. But both are acceptable.

Review:Glad I purchased this printer. Have no regrets at all. Great printer....

ProsSuper Fast High Quality High Toner Capacity!!! - If this is going to replace a color laser printer you already have this printer will pay for itself in the toner costs in less than a year
I priced lots of color laser printers and each of their respective toner usage and this is by far the best deal I could find. Once I received it and started using it I was even more impressed. I print hundreds of pages of regular paper and labels each day and it handles them with no problem.
ConsNone - This is an amazing printer!

Title: Wow! Date: April 23, 2007
ProsI am the IT manager at a large financial company and we actually got this printer for free from Dell for buying so much product from them. Therefore, we didn't really even need this printer. However, we've been having issues with our more expensive "commercial grade" printers and decided to install this printer just to test it.
We wanted to see if, perhaps, we should purchase several more to fix our ongoing "printer problem".
After about a month of HEAVY test usage, we've come to the conclusion that this printer is flawless!
We've printed everything from normal text and color charts and graphs and even full size full color photographs, ALL of which are printed flawlessly and beautifully through this 5110cn!
This printer is fast, highly reliable and WORTH EVERY PENNY! If you're in a large office/enterprise environment and you need a workhorse, BUY THIS PRINTER!
Needless to say, after our extensive testing period, we're going to place an order for six more.
ConsToner cost is fairly high, however due to the high yield, it evens out.

Review:BUY IT!
