Title: easy to setup/use

Review:I purchased the computer, but actually it was my 83 year old mother that wanted a computer. It was very easy to setup for her. So far, it appears to be working very well.

Title: CD/DVD Drive DOA
Date: February 8, 2010
Review:The CD/DVD drive was DOA. Called Dell and could have replaced the drive myself. Dell had a service tech came out and replaced the faulty drive.
Runs great now.
I would have rated this a three because of the drive being DOA right from the factory, but the Dell service bumped the rating up to a four.

Title: Wonderful "machine"
Date: February 6, 2010
Product Uses: Gaming, surfing the web, graphic design, internet radio, streaming video
Review:When my old machine started humming all the time, I knew it was time to look into buying a new model. My old PC was about 6 years old. I'd also filled it with stuff I didn't use very often and it was just getting bogged down. I went immediately to Dell on the recommendation of my son-in-law who just bought a new PC for his business. I love the Enspiron's sleek black design, the speed and I do a lot of gaming in my spare time.

Review:This is my second Dell desktop computer. It far exceeds my expectations, especially after hearing about Vista. Windows 7 works great. The computer runs quickly and smoothly. The graphics are wonderful. It is connected to a Dell wide screen and I couldn't be happier. I use it for a home business and for pleasure.

Title: Super Quiet
Date: February 4, 2010
Review:I replaced a 4 year old Dell with Windows XP with a Inspiron 546 with upgraded processors, extra memory, and duel drives.
The first few days I was confused by Windows 7, but after talking to Tech Support, I was walked through the basics. Now I love it.
I can tell you the Roxio CD/DVD burner program is useless! Called Support and they wanted to charge me to get it running which I refused to pay (Dell wants to charge for everything now). Reluctantly the Support agreed to help me. After 2.5 hours later, I found out all the software wasn't installed on the computer. Even after downloading from the Roxio site, it still won't work! I removed it from the computer and downloaded a free program that is easy, takes a minium of memory, and works fine. I suggest you remove Roxio too. Why would Microsoft load this into Windows 7...and why would Dell allow it?
In summary I think I'll like this new computer, and especially Windows 7. Once you learn the tricks of navigating around it, you'll love it too!
P.S. Couldn't figure out how to open the drives until I discovered by accident the buttons are on the outside just to the right of each drive. They blend right in, and are hard to see. Oh well, what can I say. The 546 is a very good computer for the money. I see they raised the price about $100 right after I ordered on 12/29. I guess Dell wanted to start the new year off right!

Title: Great Value!
Date: February 4, 2010
Product Uses: photography, office apps., web reference
Review:For years I used to build my own pc's from parts I would buy at computer expos and local computer shops. What I paid for the parts to build them far exceeded what I paid for my Inspiron not to mention the excitement of just removing it from the carton, setting it up, and using it without the aggravation of reflashing a bios or trying to find out why the machine I just put together will not boot up. I am quite pleased with my purchase from Dell. The only problem I had was to figure out why I didn't have sound. Turns out that the only sound output that was enabled in the bios was the HDMI. ALL of the audio outputs should have been turned on since Dell would not know which output a customer was going to use. I know for sure I'll never build another computer as long as Dell is around.

Title: Inspiron 546 MT
Date: February 4, 2010
Product Uses: son's computer
Review:Pros: I was looking for a reliable, inexpensive computer for my son to use and play games on. I found that system at Dell! The setup was easy, the system is fast and very stable.
Cons: I think the Video could be better but at the price of the system it makes it easy to go back and add a different video card at a later date. I have had no issues and would definitely recommend this system.
Review: I am in IT and would definetly recommend the Inspiron to anyone looking for an inexpensive entry level system that will meet most normal computer usage, web surfing, email, music and video playback. This system works great!

Review:After dragging out the life of my last computer long past its attempted expiration, I finally broke down and decided to buy a new one. In the past, I have bought parts and built my own PC but these days it is just much cheaper to have Dell do it for me.
After choosing a few upgrades- more memory and a faster processor, for example- I have a budget beast that's great for using my photo software, playing music, surfing the internet, and light gaming. It does everything I need, runs great, and cost hundreds less than if I had put it all together myself and all I had to do was sit back and wait for it to be delivered.
Thanks, Dell!

Title: Very Quiet

Title: inspiron 546 inexpensive for basic needs
Date: February 3, 2010
Product Uses: business
Review:I bought this computer to replace an old Dell tower for my small business. I run Quicken, Microsoft Office, and internet/email only on this machine. The processor and memory is more than enough for my business needs, and the price was right at $289. The door to the DVD/CD drive is a bit cheap, but for me it's rarely used on this computer - I back up everything on my external drive and/or a removable flash drive. My only caution/concern, and something to consider before buying, is that there are only four USB ports on the back and two on the front. The keyboard and mouse take up two USB slots immediately. When I add my printer, and back up external drive, all the slots at the back are taken, so there is no room left at the inn except the two USB slots at the front - which is not practical unless it's a removable flash drive etc. I feel that ther should be a minimum of six USB slots at the back and two at the front, but afterall it's $289
