Title: Extremely Disappointed With Dell Date: 31 December 2008
ProsVery sleek design
Windows Vista Home Premium is very nice
ConsMetallic-sounding and crackling speakers
*Faulty Fingerprint Scanners*

Review:I ordered my Dell Studio 1537 at the beginning of December 2008 and received it in a timely manner. However, after about one hour of setup I began to notice an annoying click noise that would pop up occasionally and progressively became more frequent. After a little investigation, I found that the fingerprint scanner that was built into the system was registering unsuccessful scans. However, noone was even touching the device. After speaking with two representatives in technical support who each tried to resolve the issue by taking control of the system, correcting software, and restoring factory settings, they concluded that it was a hardware problem in the fingerprint reader and they suggested contacting customer care for a replacement. I did just that (which did take a bit long I might add) and the woman I spoke with scheduled a brand new replacement system and return for the original system. The replacement came today on 12/31/08 and after 10 minutes of setup I realized that sadly this computer also suffered the same defect. So gravely disappointed and annoyed I am currently on the line with a customer care supervisor scheduling the return of the original system, the replacement system, as well as the tv tuner that i ordered for the computer (as I will have no computer and no use for the tv tuner) and a refund of my money. Although I have had no issues with my Inspiron desktop thus far, this entire situation with these Dell laptop computer systems has been ridiculous and i feel that I would no longer recommend a Dell computer system to anyone. I'm sure anyone could see my point and can sympathize with my unlucky situation. I would truly recommend another manufacturer for such a large invest as a laptop computer. I feel that Dells are much more poorly manufactured than others. I also feel that this may be due to the fact that they are composed of parts from several various manufacturers creating hardware problems and thereby possibly software problems as different hardware often results in inconsistent software. Now I would personally recommend that users invest in a product of Sony or HP (as I will probably do) as they seem more reliable, are well built, and are world renowned PC manufacturers. I had good experiences with my Gateway a long time ago (it ran Windows 98) as well and I suppose they're still okay as well. I would even dare to recommend a Macintosh from Apple if you can afford the extra costs and wouldn't mind leaving the familiarity of a Windows PC. I hope my elaboration helps everyone as you can see in my words that I am not overly disgrunted, enraged, or weeping, just very disappointed and without a laptop computer to call my own. :(

Title: Lappy Beast Date: 28 September 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, media cross formatting

Review:Its been a long time that I wrote any reviews, work you know, but after a week of using my Studio 15 that I brought through my Brother, I just resumed writing reviews, because the backlit keyboard helped me getting back the typing charm.

So all set let me take you through the classic config stuff, Core2Duo @ 2.10 GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320 GB 7200 RPM, Intel Centrino Montevina Platform, Glossy Black/Silver Chassis and Creative Soundblaster solution (for both HDMI output and 5.1 configurable output) is what my Studio is composed of, letting tech stuff off, the laptop feels a little bulky for freqent transport, the battery back up varies on the various components like wireless lan, screen brightness, HDD activity and others. On an average 2 hours and 30 minutes is a good deal.

If you are a hardcore gamer then this is NOT the buy what you look for, because the ATI Radeon solution is not the Optimal solution for high end gamers. Check out the Studio XPS ATI Crossfire / Nvidia SLI Solutions for High End Gaming.

This laptop is majorly suited for audiances those who look for intensive photo editing, media cross formatting and couple of tasks that you love to do with faster processing for video editing and other multimedia tasking.

Now speaking of the Windows Experience Indicies, under Vista you get a score of 5.0 and Under Windows 7 it will be 4.9 (on a scale of 1.0 to 7.9) again low sub score is from Gaming graphics.

By the way Linux also runs fine on this Beast, I checked off with Fedora Core 8 and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbson, the experience is amazing.

With respect to ergonomics it is in par with its inhouse and other competative models, but there is accumulation of heat beneath the touch pad if used for a long time(say about 4 hours), as also a latitude user I expected the studio to be the same in heat dissipiation standards.

On Verdict, good build quality with some stupid mistakes from its design team like absence of quick status indicators (like Caps lock ON/OFF, wifi ON/OFF, HDD Activity etc...)for the sole purpose of extending battery backup, the laptop is built for the kill with cutting edge specs for a professional with promised throughput for multimedia multitasking....

Title: Swell Dell Studio 1537 Vista 32bit Date: 01 June 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, Travel, Music & Movies, Finances, web surfing

Review:I built my wife a Duel Core Pentium on Intel board, 2gig mem running XP 32 bit. Her Office is still in that world. Sweet running desktop in Mini Cabinet, SATA, drive.
The dell Studio case is a well thought out design for those that maintain their own. Monitor Hinges are A+. Strong and sturdy. I have had numerious lap tops. First one I felt like would not break cheap hinges. Broke one just from open and closing. I love the HDMI tv output. We belong to Netflix and watch movies via the instant watch and lap top interface with 50" big screen plasma. Sharp, crystal clear picture. Speed of DSL connection contributes much towards picture quaility. Hulu works well also. 4 USB outlets,RGB outlet, our TV plays it as well. We have Microsoft Wireless Key Board and Mouse also. Sit in recliner and surf web from Key Board in lap. Slot load DVD/CD Player Burner the best. Every lap top with tray breaks in no time. Last but not least from this bargin is the beloved Finger print Password function, Amen, what a treat not to need a list of pass words written down. I keep them on locked thumb drive now, just in case. The only way I would like better is if made in USA. My wife has the same Studio red case with Core Duo, Vista 64 Bit, Same memory 3gig. We bought hers first. She uses for business. Not sure why there was so much fuss about Vista , I love it. If you have older Xp software go with the 32 bit Vista you will not have any trouble. Thats why I stayed to the Vista Premium 32 bit. Vista Premium 64 bit is a work horse, just plan on buying compatable software with it. Both came with Works, Photo edit software and several other odds and ends. We still have 2 Desktops XP Home. This case has a bottom, the whole bottom that unscrews and allows access to every thing. When I saw that I was sold. Thanks Dell for not trying to force me to some service center because I could not take apart without being clarvoyant.

Display: Hi Resolution/Bright, glossy widescreen 15.4 WLED display (1440x900)
Title: Pretty good, if not quite perfect Date: 13 September 2008
Pros- Love the WLED screen
- Backlit keyboard extremely handy (three options: on, off and half strength)
- Slot drive is very easy to use
- Lightweight
- Quiet
- Looks very nice
- Speaker volume goes to a decent level
- Handles heat well
- Body feels sturdy, not flimsy
- Not overly shiny (and so less prone to picking up fingerprints)
- Hinge is easy to open, but not so loose that it is likely to flop about when carried
- Keyboard feels reasonably nice to type on, with only a little flex
- Speakers not placed in a counter-intuitive position (i.e. at the front of the laptop, aimed towards my middle)
Cons- Quality of the touchpad. The mouse buttons have a nice feel, but the response (and especially scrolling) isn't very smooth. Far too few stages, which results in jerky scrolling, like cheap zoom on a camera. - Haven't figured out a way to keep touch-sensitive controls lit up, so I can see what I'm doing in the dark without inadvertently ejecting the disk
- Insists on ejecting previously inserted disk at times, for no apparent reason
- Spacebar key has started squeaking a little

Review:I've been using this laptop for a while now, within a month of it coming out, and overall I'm quite pleased with it. My gamble paid off, because I still think this laptop comes the closest out of the ones currently on the market to fitting my criteria. They've put a lot of thought into the design, and it shows. It really is pretty chunky at the thick end by today's standards, but I find I don't really mind.
I certainly don't mind enough to spend the extra few hundred on the XPS, since the weight difference is negligible and I don't need it to be ultra slim. Plus, as a matter of personal preference, I vastly prefer a plastic wrist rest to aluminium. I also didn't much like the placement of the power plug on the XPS (wrong side for my setup, plus too close to two of the USB slots for comfort), and was a bit concerned about the heat produced by the high end graphics cards (which I don't need).
I'm particularly disappointed by the touchpad, because I feel they could have afforded something better for the price. My last laptop was an Acer, and I found it much smoother. Having said that, given the opportunity I'd still pick this laptop again. It's light, powerful and well-designed on the whole. The weight, backlit keyboard and screen are a big draw for me, and I must admit the remote is a nice extra. The addition of an e-SATA port would have been good, I agree.
Another thing - the power cord is quite loosely connected, which took some getting used to. It's not about to fall out at the drop of a hat, but it does make it more likely that if someone happens to tug on the cord for whatever reason, the laptop won't go tumbling with it. Not as foolproof as Apple's magnetic connectors, but an appreciated thought.

Review:This was to be an "upgrade" from my old B130 laptop, however I kept alternating between this speedy laptop and my old one. Incredible, but my old laptop performed better, much better. How could that be, on paper this should have blown it out of the water. Keyboard is erratic and the cursor would relocate while typing, and I'm used to typing on a laptop. Touchpad was unresponsive 90% of the time, and when it did respond you almost had to pound on it. Speakers, wow, DELL should be embarrassed, they are a joke. Finally how can a computer with these processors be slower than a 4 year old Pentium??? I called DELL after struggling for 4 hours and upon listening to my complaints and my laptop over the phone (did I mention the continuous annoying noise) they told me I had a bad hard drive and arranged a new replacement. I still wasn't convinced this was an isolated problem and was nervous about getting another Studio so I called a co-worker who also had purchased a new Studio ($2000) and is a computer teacher at our high school. She didn't like her Studio at all and was having the same kinds of issues...that was enough for me. I don't know what DELL did with this line but stay away from this product...and I am usually a big DELL fan, so is the computer teacher, her whole lab is full of DELLS. I am seriously rethinking purchasing DELL in the future after this experience.

Review:I was a little shy about ordering this and was very careful and cautions before jumping off the ledge. I am very pleased with the purchase. I decided to go for it... specs:
Studion 15 - edge to edge display
2.4 gh
4 mb
video card upgrade
soundblaster add on
backlight keyboard

Slight Con:
The only thing I would have to mention as a negative is the Soundblaster upgrade. It's a little bit external and not very effective, really. I am not sure if it was worth the extra $$$$. I bought a couple of logitech speakers that plug into the card and they work fine... but the base speakers that come with the system are not too bad, just not very loud.

Pro:
The video is amazing and cyrstal clear. The speed is also fantastic and I do not notice much heat on the underside of the carridge, either! Love the Red... it's really a nice system. There is no way to completely close the lid, but this does not bother me at all.

Con:
There are no outlets or ports in the back of the machine, so everything is on the sides and there is one 2 main USB ports(one extended port).
Might have been a better layout to have some ports (at least the power port) in the back of the system.

Pro:
Good battery life. I have both the 6 and 9 cell battery because the 9 was free with the full boat unit.
Dont' be shy... why wait? Jump off the ledge! You will not be disapointed

Title: The Studio 15 is a WOW machine! Date: 15 September 2008
Pros> Sleek form factor.
> Slot load DVD.
> Great battery life with LED display (+3 hrs).
> Backlit keyboard is fantastic in low light.
> Fingerprint scanner works for login and for web sites with username and password fields.
> Webcam and associated apps are really fun and easy to use.
> One hand removal system for battery. Lock/unlock latch clicks in place so the battery can be removed with the same hand.
> 256MB ATI card is very nice. Not a high end gaming card but a huge improvement over the integrated video for just a little extra money.
> Great touchpad. Blends right in with palm rest.
> Orange/Tangerine back seem to change from Orange to Red when viewing from different angles.
> Rubberized texture of backing is very nice and feels very durable.
> System has a great, high-quality feel overall. For a sub $1000 system you get a lot of high end features along with great quality.
Cons> Battery is slightly loose when holding the laptop. Not noticeable when the laptop is on a table or your lap, just when you are holding it.
> No more quick-boot Media Direct partition for viewing DVD's/MP3's/pictures without booting into the OS. I was looking forward to this feature and was surprised to see it was removed. Pressing the Media Direct button now boots all the way into the OS and then launched the Media Direct app.
> Low audio volume at the highest volume level. Fortunately I wear headphones for most of my multi-media usage, but it would be nice to have audio that plays at an audible level when not using the headphones.

Review:This notebook has more WOW factor than most other notebooks before it is even powered on! When I pull my Studio out of my bag, I get comments immediately from people nearby. The color options and styling of the notebook grab attention immediately. After you power it up, the WOW factor just goes up. It boots into the OS with the quickness and the LED display is very clean a crisp. The fit and finish on this product is the best I have seen from Dell in a long time. Performance is the main WOW factor for me. Typically, when I get a notebook, I have to format and reload to get the performance I want. I was amazed that even with all the background apps running how fast this notebook continued to perform. From word processing to surfing the web, this notebook is lighting fast all the time. Size and weight are perfect for school and travel. The LED display contributes greatly to increased battery life, so get the LED display option over the bigger battery option (plus your get a higher screen resolution!). The fingerprint scanner is probably one of the neatest notebook features I have seen or used to date. Not only does it log you into your computer but it also remembers your user names and passwords for web sites that require a log in! I love this feature!

Title: Amazing laptop with a few silly flaws Date: 17 September 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, games, movies and multimedia, programming, wireless connectivity, word processing

Review:Before i get into my review let me say that i'm a computer science engineer and i have worked in HP in the past. But i still ended up buying a Dell.

Well as the title says it, the laptop is absolutely brilliant. The High def screen is pure magic. whenever people look at it, they go "WOW, that is a very clear screen, unlike any other laptop", and i proudly roll out the specifications. :-)

Unbeleiveably low price for this baby. i customised it to $1122 and paid $779, a flat discount of $343!!!!! And Dell gave me a 9 cell battery free!!
no other manufacturer was able to come close to this price, HP had the same config for 900, toshiba had it for 850.

The only cons i can think of are some silly mistakes made by dell, things they shouldnt have done. there is no caps lock light, or a wireless indicator (although when you press the wireless key, it shows up on the screen) and there is no memory reading or harddisk light (something to indicate that te laptop is indeed functioning, although there is a power on light of course).

but these little flaws are easy to live with. overall this is an amazing laptop. one of the best you'll come across. and the 9 cell battery gives great backup (5 hours!!!!)

so go on and get one, you wont regret it.

Title: Awesome Studio 15! Date: 21 September 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, school work, watching dvds, music listening/burning

Review:I recently purchased a Studio 15 laptop for my daughter who is a senior in high school and headed off to college soon. We looked at other brands and after an exhaustive search committed to by a Dell. We already own 3 other Dells in our home so the decision was an easy one with which to live.
This laptop is awesome plain and simple. My daughter is not the most computer saavy person but this is extremely user friendly and hard to mess up. She loves the widescreen Hi Def screen as it is crystal clear with great colors and adjustable brightness. We also added the backlit keyboard which is worth 5 times the price! If you have ever used your laptop in a low-light environment and had to tilt the screen down to be able to see the keyboard this is for you. It can be turned off in bright light to conserve battery life, another plus. The battery life is outstanding and the overall weight is phenominally light for the size.
My only regret is not spending more on a faster processor. We upgraded one level and even though this is plenty fast for her I am impatient when it comes to processing speed. Don't get me wrong. This unit is incredibly fast for a non-techy high schooler but speed does come at a price. Overall we could not be happier.

Title: Glad I bought it. Date: 28 December 2008
ProsWUXGA Screen, backlit keyboard, T9300 processor, quiet hard drive.
ConsDell.com service, the speakers are indeed terrible.

Review:Let me first say I bought a refurb from the Dell outlet, so I didn't know what to expect as far as quality. From what I can tell, I saved almost $700 over the regular price, and it only had a small scratch. It had not been booted before.
The bad thing about Dell is that they take FOREVER to ship. Last time I looked, it's 2008, yet a company that sells computers on the internet can't ship a computer out the same day you buy. Their estimated ship date was almost a week out - and this computer was already built, sitting on a shelf waiting to be shipped. I wonder why Dell is struggling????? Hmmmm..
Anyway, if you can look past the build time and ship time, this computer is actually pretty nice. I looked at the XPS at Bestbuy before buying this, and I have to say I think the initial quality is on par with the XPS. The T9300 is incredibly fast, and the hard disk is silent - yes silent. Fingerprint reader and keyboard backlight work well.
I wanted to write this review because I almost didn't order this computer after reading the reviews. I'm glad I did so far. Dell should offer a speaker upgrade option, since the speakers are so, so terrible. Oh well, glad I'm not going to use them....

Title: Great laptop for the money! Date: 25 December 2008
ProsBack-lit keyboard, wi-fi locator antenna, bright clear display, plenty of storage, fast.
ConsBlue tooth is optional, all ports on the side instead of on the back which can get in the way when plugging in multiple USB devices.

Review:I bought this laptop so that I don't have to be tethered to my XPS desktop when studying or traveling, but still have access to most of my personal information. I have to say I was a bit skeptical before it arrived as some other reviews I read were less than favorable, but now that it has arrived (Dec. 23rd.) I can say that this is a great laptop for the money. I only paid $680 for mine (black Friday deal) and got next day business shipping to boot. The configuration I have typically goes for approx. $1,100. My only real complaint is that the speakers do in fact sound VERY tinny (Dell you MUST improve these) other than that, the laptop works fine. Vista boots up quickly and seems to be very stable once all of the updates are applied. The only option I wish I had added was the blue-tooth as most new mice are blue-tooth compatible. The laptop has a nice sturdy, well constructed feel to it and the back-lit keyboard is nice when working in low light such as the living room. I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone not looking to break the bank for a good laptop that they will use for a few years to come.

Title: Very Happy With My Purchase Date: 01 February 2009
ProsOverall, a FANTASTIC product for the price. Easy setup out of the box and has worked perfectly.
ConsThe speakers ARE a bit weak, but I didn't buy the laptop to listen to music or watch movies.

Review:I read a lot of reviews before making my purchase and was hoping for the best with this laptop. The reason I decided to make this purchase is that my old personal Dell laptop lasted about 6 or 7 years. I am also satisfied with a Dell Latitude that I use for business travel.

This Refurbished Studio 15 looks brand new. Everything works perfectly so far. I originally saw it listed at the Outlet for $609.00. Dell emailed me a discount coupon for 20% off and free shipping. So, for $520.06 I have a new laptop that costs about $1,000 when configured new.

Other options that are included on my laptop are:
Graphite Grey with Black Trim
Integrated Finger Print Reader
Integrated 2.0 Mega Pixel Web Camera
9 Cell Primary Battery (It also gives the keyboard a nice tilt forward for typing)
Dell Wireless 1510 802.11 a/g/n Draft Mini Card
Windows Vista Home Premium
64 BIT Operating System DVD
Roxio Creator 10
Dell Wireless 370 Blue Tooth
Dell Bluetooth 5 Button Travel Mouse
Resource DVD
Operating System CD
Other Software and Documentation

For my needs, this is a great buy.

Review:Pros
Good Sound, Good look, Battery backup, Performance awesome.

Cons
Unfortunately, it was designed differently (only Function keys). Function Keys depends on Fn Key. Brightness, Sound are given directly instead of Function Keys which we can use not often and we can adjust with Fn Key also (as like as most laptops). But we can change our regular habit of using Fuction Keys.

I am basically Software professional guy which I generally use the laptop for development as well as for entertainment also.
Thus, I choose Studio 1510 for multiple purposes. I generally use Function Keys (F1..F12). But it changed my habit of Keyboard typing automatically. If I use this laptop more than 2 months, whichever laptop I use, I will try to press Function Key with Fn Key.
Same thing I observed in Inspiron Core 2 Duo model also. This is the only reason, I am planning to buy another laptop probably VOSTRO 1510. My suggestion would be "look at Keyboard and go for Studio/Inspiron" if you are an IT professional. Except this, its awesome.

Title: We keep having problems Date: 28 August 2009
Product Uses: Connecting with Friends, work, research

Review:We have problem about once a month turning on our computor. we get a blue screen saying something about a crash dump and then it goes to a launch start up repair which never works. we are tired of having to get dell suport to fix our computor. It just did it again two days ago and we have not been able to load up any thing but safe mode until last night when the computor decided to randomly work but to make matters worse we still have to launch a start up repair every time we get on and just pray that the computor likes us today. We spent alot of money on this computor and it has turned out to be a nightmare! the computor is less then a year old and we have been having problems with it since about the 2nd month. I am tired of calling dell to fix it. I am tired of nobody completely fixing the problem. I hate dealing with this every day. I had a dell before and loved it but it was about 5 years old and ran like a dinosour so we got this one.

Title: Best Deal I Got Date: 21 October 2008
ProsIt has a great screen.
The color is amazing.
It's just awesome.
Keypad is not loud like others.
Light and doesn't heat up that much.
Can be on it all day and won't get tired.
The webcam is good for simple pictures.
I love the Vista look.
Everything is organized.
It has the dock like from Mac and it shows a preview picture of the window you want to open when its minimized.
It's just AWESOME.
ConsSpeakers, but having headphones is just as great.
It get fingerprint stains but can come off easily too.
Umm, everything else makes up for these minor problems.

Review:This was my first laptop and believe me I wanted the best. I researched and re-researched over and over. I even considered Mac until I just realized it wasn't worth it for now. It's more for business people and Dell has the same features and plus more! (like the fingerprint scanning) for the same or lesser price (depending on what you add on) and it actually took me two years to finally get one. Once I had the money I just couldn't wait to have it in my hands. I love it and it was absolutely worth the wait. It has met all of my expectations. I actually got this laptop at the starting price of $649 and now I see that I did the right choice of picking it for me. It is fast and easy to handle. It's small enough to carry around and be in class and anywhere you might take it. The keypad is awesome to write with and I also included the backlight which is a very convenient and worth the extra $50. Very awesome and satisfied customer.

Review:Pros:-
Illuminated keyboard more useful than I thought.
Good battery life.
Quick.
Clear screen.
Free cover-colour upgrade makes it distinctive.

Cons:-
The laptop is fine when up-and-running, but sometimes has problems booting Windows.
The touch-sensitive media buttons don't work for several minutes after booting - a problem widely reported on the web.
Needed a few upgrades to bios etc. right after delivery to make the touchpad work correctly and it would hang completely during boot-up.
Reflections on the screen's glossy-finish make it difficult to read in moderately bright conditions.

Additional Comment:-
I don't think I've ever spent as much time talking to a company helpdesk before! Dell are keen to help, though on several occasions have tried to contact me earlier arranged when I wasn't in. Not sure what else to do - third set of media buttons and second CD-ROM drive, problem still not cured.

Title: An Excellent all-around Laptop Date: 12 January 2009
Pros-Very fast w/the Core 2 Duo processor and 3 GB RAM.
-The finger-print scanner is cool.
-Web-cam takes excellent quality photos.
-Very comfortable keyboard.
-Integrated graphics are surprisingly good.
-Vista runs as fast as any other OS.
Cons-Touch pad lags a bit when the hard drive light is on.
-The media touch buttons have an issue whenever I boot up. The Eject light stays on for 1-3 minutes after boot up, and then everything goes back to normal. Although I can't use the media buttons during this time, it is not a huge deal.

Review:Overall this is an excellent laptop.
I was surprised at how well the graphics card worked, as it is integrated. It can run older games and even some newer games at high frame-
rates!

Everything else is great and this laptop can really get things done fast.

The Fingerprint reader works excellently, plus you can impress your friends and family with it!

The Touch-Pad can lag a bit when the Hard Disk is thinking, but I use a mouse, so this is not too much of an issue for me.

Like I said, the touch buttons have an issue when I boot up. The eject light stays lit for 1-3 minutes, so I can't use the media buttons during this time. Then it begins to work properly. I believe that this might be a BIOS issue, but Dell is constantly releasing BIOS updates, so I am not worried.

Overall this is an excellent laptop for anyone. It has enough power for even the most demanding user!

ProsBacklit keyboard
LED screen
Warranty
ConsTouchpad, mouse is horrible
- Speakers are like that of a transistor radio
- Fan noise is obnoxious
- Computers heats up too much
- Slow, even with top of line 2.4 gz processor
- Resolution in 1200 x 800 screen is disappointing

Review:I have had a Dell Inspiron 6400 for the past three years, and liked it so much that I ordered this Dell Studio 1537 as a replacement thinking that with the higher, more advanced tech it would be a step up. I have also appreciated the great customer service, with tech repairmen coming to your home.
That said, this computer is poorly made. My Inspiron 6400, with an inferior processor, is much faster. My Inspiron speakers make this Studio look stupid. The touchpad on the Inspiron was smooth, I have to fight to move around with the Studio touchpad. The Studio ran hot, with fan, from the get go -- my Inspiron 6400 almost never used its fan and almost never ran hot.
On the plus side, the backlit keyboard and LED screen are a definite improvement, its just you need a lot more if you want to get work done. My hands right now feel like they are touching a hot stove, for one.

Title: Not a winner! Date: 11 December 2008
ProsDesign and overall features and appearance
ConsFingerprint swiper barely works
Vista seems buggy and slow

Review:I started buying Dell in 1987. My office is full of Dell Desktops. I current have a 5 yr old Inspiron 5100 laptop with XP that works justs flawlessly so I am a big Dell fan. I decided to upgrade to the Studio 15 with lots of options because it was so cool and I was due. Plus I have 3 HP laptops with Vista and I don't mind it too much. One of them has a fingerprint swiper which has been great. This Dell 15 however seems to have issues. The fingerprint swiper keeps giving errors so it's easier to type your password, IE keeps freezing and everything is slow, even with a top speed processor a 4 GB of RAM. I'm going to play with it a little more but I think this one is going back. The HP dv5t my daughter has is great and I might even consider a dv7t or even a MacBook. It might just be this build or configuration but somethings is very wrong with this laptop. Too bad.

Title: not original, but perfect, de best Date: 09 September 2008
Proselegant design, brillant screen, intuitive interfacce, well, just go read reviews for apple macbook when it came out in 2006. studio 15 is flawless imho.
wled is great.
Consback lit keyboard is dim . no high end components, wish dell can update
configuration options in the near futurre.

Review:i ordered a refurbished dell studio 15 for a friend. i couldnt believe my eyes when i opened it. its so much better than the laptop i currently own-- gateway p-7811 fx.
its fabulous with flush palmrest and sides, black & gray looks classy. laptop runs fast , but not from higher clock cpu or more ram, actaul speed is from low respnse time lcd and smooth touchpad.
the lcd screen is best ever in a laptop, the response time & contrast ratio & brightness ,
dell shoulda listed those specifics on their website. also the touch pad responds instantly, the speaker is awesome too for a audio 2.0, just plug in a xps earbud.
kudos to dell, studio is perfect in all respects. even though its not original, dell has learned well from apple on both exterior design & software user interface.
if there is sumthing to desire, a better video card would be nice.
