Review:Pros -Great screen -Awesome keyboard -Multitouch touchpad is great -Pretty awesome webcam -LOVE the fingerprint reader -Super light -like the placement of USB's etc -Like the aluminum and plastic -Like the turbo-boost feature -Love the raised space bar -I like the back-lite keyboard
Cons -I don't like how stuff can get under the keyboard. -I don't like how the charger port is on the left -The speaker could be a little better -More USB ports -No USB 3.0 -I've seen better battery life
Overall This is a great laptop. It looks more expensive than it looks and the features are great. Some of the add-on features really awesome and overall, I love it. Plus, the Dell Warranty is great.

Review:Pros: Portable, lightweight, i3 processor.
Cons: Bought this laptop 9 months ago. Since then had the harddisk whistling and had been getting around five to six blue screen errors. Technical support is not like it used to be with my emails left unreplied. Had only one time received a reply about the whistling but of no real help. Confusing warranty. When contacted Dell Malaysia, I was asked to contact Dell UK about my problem. When contacted Dell UK, I was told my warranty does not cover my laptop. During purchase, I had informed I will be using it abroad but no suggestion of the correct warranty.
Very disappointed. Would now purchase from a brick and mortar retailer.

Dell Vostro 3400 - Great all round performance
5out of5
Overall Rating:
Date:July 18, 2011
Review:I bought the Dell Vostro 3400 laptop in April. There were a few issues in the first few days.
Thanks to Dell's prompt service these were solved by updating system drivers.
In my honest opinion if you are looking for a down to earth business laptop with good performance then look no further.
I am sure there are faster laptops with Dolby surround sound, full HD screens and batteries that will keep you away from a power point for four hours or more.
The point is with most laptops there will probable be one weak point or the other.
Not so with the Vostro 3400. Try as hard as I can I am yet to find a single aspect of this laptop's performance with which I am frustrated or dissatisfied.
This laptop performs well on all fronts.
Things that I like 1. Fast boot time & shut down time
2. Ability to handle multiple applications without significant delay.
At the time of writing this review I have 3 instances of Visual Studio 2008, Outlook Express, MS Word, Chrome (with more than 10 tabs open), MS Visio 2010 and there is very little delay in switching between applications or running any single one.
3. Great keyboard and mouse.
4. The fingerprint reader is a great boon. Don't know how I have been living without it.
5. Considering that this is a business laptop, the speakers are not that bad at all.
6 Battery lasts 3 hours with the system performance slightly toned down during that period.
Things that could be improved 1. The DVD drive door accidentally pops open. But this is not a deal breaker.
2. The finish on the plastic around the keyboard could have been better. The material is solid. It is the finish I am talking about. Does tend to stain easily.
Otherwise I cant think of any major issue or problem. The ones that i have pointed out certainly do not get in the way of a 5 star recommendation.
This is a well rounded laptop with above average performance in all aspects.
Go for it

Review:Am using this for about 3 months.
Had a little problem with the keyboard. Called dell support and the keyboard was replaced within the next 2 days. A little over heating. But, that doesn't really matter to me. Speakers could have been better.
Review:I purchased dell vostro 3400, i3 processor, window 7, 2 GB ram & 250 hardisk. As per the price and my requirement the system is awesome. i use my pc for research work, office, documentation, watching movies, internet surfing. -almost nil fan voice -using two antivirus but good speed -can work with 10 files and internet open -bluetooth and good webcam -love the media player sensors -comfortable keyboard for typing - touchpad very good, vey smooth - battery still working for three hours -three usb driver - slim and smart look. am pretty much comfortable with 14 inch screen -light weight cons -my only concern is the lid. if you are closing and opening the lid roughly than you are in problem as i am. beware of it. -finger print on keyboard - it becomes a bit heat on using of many application especially antivirus scan - a bit slow charging than i want
but overall a best and most economic piece for research work, documentation and office type of work

I was surprised by how quick it was on startup and general running of apps such as outlook, web browsing, and office apps. Battery life not the greatest but also doesn't take long to reach full charge. Big improvement on my last inspiron laptop.

Review:Overall, I am very happy with the purchase of the Vostro 3400. After much shopping around and looking at other brands, it had the specifications needed and Windows Professional, for a reasonable price. It was delivered before the estimated date. My daughter is using it as a student and it meets all her requirements and has had no problems. We didnt get dedicated graphics but it is not used for gaming. The screen and top section of the laptop is quite thin and flexible so hoping this wont cause any issues in the future. We looked at larger screen laptops, but the size is just that bit smaller for easy portability. It is carried on a daily basis.

Not Perfect, But a Good Buy

Review:I bought this laptop to get me though and beyond business school, and after having it for about 8 months I am still pleased with its performance. Its a basic, no-frills laptop that performs well for my personal and school needs.
The only drawback Ive had so far is its physically less sturdy than I expected and would prefer. It does have a bit of a hollow plastic feel to it. The screen frame is the biggest source of concern, it flexes when carrying it in my bag and has been rubbing against the base of the laptop. Around the trackpad and the webcam is where it is worst, its really more of an aesthetic nuisance than anything else unless it causes the webcam to break eventually. Granted, I do carry it with me 5 days out of the week in a book bag (in a padded sleeve, of course), so I may be putting it through more than it was meant for.
Besides the frame, I am satisfied well with it and would recommend it to someone looking for a basic but competent computer.

I LOVE my new vostro 3400 (configuration 65)
5out of5
Overall Rating:

Review:It looks sharp, travels light, & runs like a sporty, red car!
I wanted a powerful system with Win7-32bit OS (having the XP mode pre-installed was great), lots of storage, wifi, bluetooth, almost all the I/O connections that came standard. Being able to opt out of anti-virus and trial s/w made my own set-up MUCH simpler. Dell's price was much better by the time I customized at other sites, and I've been very happy with their customer and tech support over the years, so this purchase was a no-brainer.
This is my 4th Dell (2 desktop, 2 laptop) in 9 years -- each has been great and basically troublefree, but this one has truly impressed me. I'm not ready to give up the desktop, but this one could do the job!

Review:I'm going to go ahead and recommend people not to buy this laptop. I don't want to write a long review, I'm watching a movie right now but I feel people should get a chance to read why they shouldn't get this laptop. (Used for 4 months now) The first time I got this laptop, pressing the ON button, there was a delay - it doesn't turn on right away, it takes like 3 seconds, and still from then on, it’s always been like this. What's up with that? The screen is incredibly thin, so thin you'll think you're going to end of breaking it just buy opening the laptop. You'll see the discoloring with the slightest pressure. Don’t put it in a bag with books. And of course, there is no clasp to keep the laptop closed. And you can only open the laptop to about 60 degrees. There's hardly any protective coating so fingerprints will be everywhere. The speakers suck. The keyboard feels cheap. The dual processor sucks. You would think this laptop could handle simple programs operating. But boy, one annoying error I get is when a simple click turns into a double-click and anything I click gets selected. You know what I'm talking about. This isn't a virus or a spyware, it's the laptop. A restart is required often. The USB ports are hit-or miss. But I can always count on one of the three to work. Small stuff, but the many of them adds up. The price of this laptop flutters, but at the end of the day, you can find a better laptop for the same if not cheaper price. [good stuff? battery last 3-4 hours when fully charged, the laptop does not overheat or kick on an loud fan noise, the media buttons work well and the overall laptop is lighter than it looks]

Great value

Review:This laptop is stylishly simple and great for work or school. It's fast and the fan is not as loud as some people exaggerate it to be. Although the speakers are not stereo quality, it should not be compared with other high-end media oriented laptops. It delivers when it comes to word processing and other basic uses such as watching movies, games (depending on the specs), and browsing the internet. I found the keyboard to be quite practical and easy to use. The matte surface is good if you're typing a lot (unlike the glossy and flimsy keyboards that many retail laptops have). Another plus is that the computer does not come jam packed with spam software. It's kept very simple.
Only complaint here is that 4.5lbs can be hefty for some people but a bag with comfortable straps should fix it.

Review:Purchased the Vostro 14" 3400 I-5 450M a week ago. From an aestetic point of view I found the computer not very appealing, almost bulky looking, with the body too rectangular(no beveled front) and cover lid a little shaky. It was also much heavier than I expected with the battery and CD inserted. The keyboard keys were average(prefer my past Toshiba much better),could be bigger, and the screen while better for long reading not as brilliant a display as past computer. The fan started to run about 10 minutes into operation and while the computer did not significantly heat up, the noise is irritating. Performance has been okay,no real difference to my previous dual core although I haven't really tested it to the fullest.

Review:The fan is consistently on all the time with bearable "pur" sound, sometime with a tiny high frequency "z" sound which is realy annoying. The keyboard is somewhat hard to type on it. My vostro 1000 is way better. The start up is quick and the computer is quick. I returned it after few day try out and realized the 15% restocking fee....I guess I will never return to Dell because of the restocking fee....

Cons
1. I wish they could give detail explanation to beginners how to use certain features ( card reader, wwlan , wifi etc). 2. Some more skin colour options etc.
Final Review
Buy Vostro 3400 if u want a compact yet powerful laptop...believe me I have researched a lot ( Sony Vaio, Toshiba Satellite, Acer timelinex etc ) before finally settling for Vostro 3400. It is almost the best you can get in its range.

Review:I bought a Dell Vostro with the following specifications: - Core i3 370M - 2Gb DDR3 1066 - 250Gb HDD - Windows Basic (I removed it and installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit)
It runs smoothly on Microsoft's latest OS and it handles a 10-tab Firefox, a 4-tab Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint 2010 and an HD movie very well. The battery also exceeds my expectation with 4 hours of running with a Power Saver plan. Keyboard is easy and pleasant to type on, though there is a certain level of flex; touchpad is large and sensitive, two finger scrolling, zooming and rotating is natural. The LED screen is bright and provides good images even under direct sunlight. Webcam's quality is above average, it should provide sufficient quality for a chat in Skype but may not be a videoconference.
Overall, it's a brilliant machine, and considering the price tag of $900 when I got it, it was a good deal for me.

Review:I have purchased the VOSTRO 3400 With the following specs. Core I3 370 3GB DDR3 320GB 7200rpm
Windows 7 basic 32 bit - An Awesome Machine to say the least. Runs extremely smooth. Would deffinately recommend to business associates as well as Home users. Battery generally lasts as long as 3 hrs. But One thing which was not good was, Dell giving me wrong drivers. After I re-installed the OS, i tried to install the drivers but most of the drivers given to me were not compatible with my machine. I will have to somehow get hold of the Customer Care to sort out this issue. But Otherwise it is Joy to work on this Machine.
Review:The Vostro 3400 is a fantastic partner to any business user. Its lightweight design and excellent specifications meet every day to day need of the business user. Its startup and processing is the fastest I have experienced and I recommend it highly.
