So, I purchased the previous model of this laptop, attracted by the rugged nature of it as I work overseas in sometimes hostile environments.
2 years down the line, the screen sprung a leak. Yes, the screen is bright enough to read in strong sunlight; alas however the heat from the sun melted the resin that sticks the screen together. I now have a laptop with several huge bubbles in the screen and a sticky mess at the bottom which now glues the screen and the bezel.
Dell's response? Could not care less. Out of warranty and tough luck. Which is a great shame, as the laptop is otherwise fantastic and I would have considered buying this model had I not had this experience.

Touchscreen is a disappointment
PostedDecember 14, 2011
No, I do not recommend this product.
Built and received this laptop recently. The system is fast and responsive. However, the touch screen on the E6420 ATG model is single point resistive only. The NON-ATG version touchscreen is multi-touch capacitive. If I'd known this when ordering I would never have ordered the ATG version. Also, there is no webcam integrated with this screen. Had the touchscreen been multi-touch, I would have given this laptop 5 stars.
