ReviewI purchased this laptop over Studio 1535 was only because of the Nvdia graphics offered with this (Studio offers ATI) and because of its small screen size. For me looks didn't matter much as far as the performance goes. As a computer science student, I bought this laptop for programming, surfing the internet, and also wanted to play high-end games and watch movies. The pre-loaded softwares that came along were no good (sorry Dell), so did a clean install of Vista SP1 x86 that came with the laptop. And believe me, I could play Crysis on this lappy on low settings at full resolution!! For me, testing a computer's performance is by running a high-end game on it. If it can run that smoothly, then it can run anything!! Since then I didn't have any problems whatsoever in anything. Only problem is that while gaming, the temperatures increase a lot, so I use a cooling pad. I have also upgraded the RAM to 4GB (stock was 3GB) and loaded Vista x64 SP1 from Dell (sent them a request for new OS x64 DVD and got the DVD next day!!) and SP2 from MS, and this beauty runs the same as Windows 7, sparing the boot times off course. This is a budget laptop which can almost do anything what a XPS M1330 (not the StudioXPS 13) can do.

Goods:
Screen size, extremely sturdy model, good and loud sound quality, extremely responsive keyboard, upto Core2Duo T9500 compatible, superb performance.

Bads:
Slightly heavy, gets heated up while gaming, model should have been upgraded like Studio 1535.

Finally I would recommend buying the new Studio 15 with ATI Mobility Radeon 4650 as it has been upgraded to support upto 8GB ram at 800MHz and Core2Extreme processors upto 1066MHz...only if your budget is flexible upto $1000.

ReviewI love my new laptop, the only issue I have is with the touchpad. It randomly stops working for a couple seconds at a time and its just not as smooth as my old gateway's touchpad. Pretty annoying, but other than that, its great.

ReviewI bought this laptop for school and just to surf the internet. So far I'm really satisfied with it, the only downside is that it's a little bulky for a 14 inch. Other than that I bought the pink one and the color is actually pretty easy on the eyes.

ProsSmall and nice looking laptop, love the keyboard, very portable, great initial battery life
ConsAfter the one-year warranty the laptop starts to fall apart piece by piece. After owning for one year and two months the system does not recognise the power cable or battery that it came with, and the CD drive keeps opening and closing on it's own (have had system professionaly checked, it's not a virus)

Reviewif you are going to go with this system, spring for the extended warranty, you'll end up putting twice the amount of money in parts that the warranty cost.

ProsThis is our second Dell laptop and we are very happy with it. The price was right and the laptop arrived on time and in excellent working order. My wife uses it most and on her last one she got into some spyware-virus problem and tech support helped her out with easy to understand instructions.
ConsI really can not think of any cons for the laptop products

Title: NOT RELIABLE Date: March 4, 2009
ProsVariety of colour. This is the only reason I purchased a Dell laptop.
ConsI have been using this computer for about one year. I have installed Mircosoft Office 2003. During my PowerPoint presentations, it always freezes when I try to adjust the brigtness of the screen. I have discoverd 2 ways to solve this problem:
1/ use adapter instead of battery or
2/ press start button then the computer would resume
Also, another failure is the hibernate and sleep mode function, by using these 2 functions, computer would freeze all the time, I only use 'shut down' to turn off my computer.

ReviewThis computer is only good for checking email and browsing on the internet. Do not take the computer for any business trip, cause you will get embarrassed in front of your clients.
Also, the instruction book is not for a newbie like myself, it doent have clear instructions in many ways.

ProsColourful design. Conveniently place USB ports.
ConsUsed about a year, the battery is spoilt - run out of power even during hibernation?!
No option to add in a dedicated graphic card?! So why some people here are talking about good performance with graphic card addition?!
There is a performace analysis tool by Dell in the laptop and it rank this laptop 'graphical performance' as '1', the WORST!

ReviewDell, please tell the consumers not only the pros but the CONS as well so that they can make a better decision! If I knew it is this bad, I will go for the higher specs.
